After many years of practical application and success in leadership and consulting with brokers, managers, recruiters and owners, the simple fact is that recruiting is the number one focus a company must have to not only survive, but to thrive. Where do leaders get the appropriate training to do so? I observed managers placed in a leadership role without proper guidance – taking on the responsibilities of profit and loss, managing independent contractors (herding cats), mortgage capture, title capture, training, coaching, and much, much more…the recipe for failure. Most, if not all managers had no experience in their new role and critical responsibility of recruiting. What I have found is that a successful recruiting manager must operate with systems - a step-by-step process of prospecting, presenting, follow-up and the hiring of productive agents. Building skill-sets is an ongoing process – a system to operate recruiting activities from is critical.
